The Korg M1 is a digital synthesizer manufactured in Japan in 1988. The M1 is 16-channel polyphonic. Two oscillators per channel, two filters per channel, two envelopes per channel, two multi-effects per channel. Channels can be combined for even more possibilities. The type of synthesis offered by the Korg M1 is called AI synthesis (Advanced Itegrated); a synthesis capable of combining all types of synthesizer sounds with sampled sounds and percussion sounds. The Korg M1 synthesizer is capable of producing a wide range of sounds. It can be used for its presets, which can be found in an impressive number of hits ranging from 80s pop to 90s rock, the greatest hits of dance music, house music and many of today's electronic music titles. Using certain presets immediately conjures up certain hits. But apart from its famous presets, the Korg M1 is also a synthesizer with which you can create all kinds of synthesizer sounds. Sound creation is pretty straightforward, rather like an analog synthesizer. You'll quickly obtain powerful leads, 80s-style bass or complex synthetic layers that could be heard in major film productions like Jaques Villeneuve's Dune or Mad Max Furiosa. The Korg M1 is and has been used by artists such as: Calvin Harris, Gang Starr, Jack Antonoff, Front 242, Toto, The Cure, Enigma, Madona, A-Ha, Larry Heard...
