Roland 80017A Voice Chip Clone

This product is our Roland 80017A Voice Chip Clone, designed as a direct replacement for the original Roland VCF/VCA hybrid module used in several classic Roland analogue synthesizers.

We developed this clone because, after restoring countless Roland synths over the years, we were never completely satisfied with the replacement options available. We wanted a module that we could confidently install in our own restorations, without compromising the sound or behaviour of the original instrument.

To achieve this, we spent a considerable amount of time developing and refining the design. Rather than copying an existing clone, we started from the original circuit and carefully selected high-precision components to reproduce the characteristics of the genuine Roland 80017A as faithfully as possible. It has the same physical dimensions as the original module and is fully compatible with the original installation.

Most importantly, this is the version that we use ourselves in our workshop. As vintage synthesizer specialists—and purists—we designed this clone to meet our own standards before offering it to our customers.

A faulty 80017A is one of the most common causes of problems on these synthesizers. Typical symptoms include crackling or distorted voices, intermittent notes, or a voice that has stopped working altogether. If your instrument exhibits one or more of these symptoms, replacing the defective module is often the appropriate repair.

Please note that installation requires soldering. If you do not have the necessary equipment or experience, we strongly recommend having the replacement carried out by a qualified technician.
