The Elektron Machinedrum is a digital drum machine manufactured in Sweden in 2001. The version that interests us here is the Machinedrum SPS-1 MKII the most accomplished version, made in Sweden in 2007. The MKII version brings a slightly thinner design , a world-wide power supply, a better signal-to-noise ratio (100 dB on the MkII compared to 91 dB on the first version), the pattern length can reach 64 steps on the MkII compared to 32 steps on the first version.
The Machinedrum SPS-1 MkII offers several drum kits, the sounds that compose a drum kits are emitted by up to 18 battery generators simultaneously, each generator mixing samples or re-creations of vintage rhythms box sounds (Roland TR-808-909-707, Linndrum, Simmons, E-mu SP-1200 ...) with powerful digital synthesizers, able to mimic analog rhythm box sounds like more modern synthetic sounds. The possibilities of sequencing are numerous:
The CLASSIC mode for a rather visual patterns programming by writing a step on one of the 16 "steps" as on a Roland Tr-606/707/808/909.
The EXTENDED mode for more detailed programming of your drum patterns.
The Elektron Machinedrum SPS-1 MkII is a drum machine grouping many classic sounds but also more modern sounds all with an output dynamic as "punchy" as some vintage drum machine. Our opinion is that the Machinedrum SPS-1 is a beautiful drum machine at ease in different areas, easy to use, the machine is built with quality materials and components.
