For sale is a fully serviced and fully tested Oberheim Prommer, designed in the USA and manufactured in Japan during the mid-1980s.

The Oberheim Prommer is a dedicated EPROM sampling and programming system designed to turn audio into custom EPROM chips for use in classic vintage drum machines and sound modules.

It allows you to take virtually any sound source, sample it, edit it, and write it directly onto EPROM chips that can then be installed in compatible instruments such as the LinnDrum, Linn LM-1, Oberheim DMX, Oberheim DX, Sequential Drumtraks, E-MU Drumulator...

In practical terms, the Prommer creates a complete workflow between real-world audio and classic hardware drum machines:

connect an audio source
sample the sound (8-bit resolution)
edit and process the sample
write it directly to an EPROM chip
install the EPROM into a vintage drum machine

This makes it possible to replace or expand factory drum sounds with fully custom samples while keeping the original hardware workflow and character of these machines.

The Prommer can sample audio from virtually any source, including synthesizers, drum machines, percussion instruments, microphones, mixers or recorded material.

It was widely used in professional studios during the 1980s as a practical way to create custom sound libraries for drum machines before computer-based sampling became standard.
